Take it seriously and keep a clear view
Fog is a frequent occurrence in fall and winter. And drivers can't always be given sufficient warning by radio or modern telemetry systems. Impaired visibility due to heavy rainfall or fog was the cause of some 2,500 serious road accidents in Germany last year.
So all drivers have to react at the first signs of trouble. Oncoming vehicles with their low beam lit in daylight are an indication that care is needed. In Germany, when visibility drops below 50 meters (160 ft) the rear foglamp may be switched on. Maximum speed is 50 kph (about 30 mph). And the distance between
you and the vehicle in front must be doubled.
Auxiliary fog lamps are also important in these situations. Although they are not mandatory equipment on passenger cars, they are certainly useful accessories. If fog, snow or rainfall impedes visibility, you are allowed to switch on your auxiliary fog headlamps. They provide improved visibility.
Bosch has developed an auxiliary foglamp with up to 50% more luminous power than a conventional headlamp. The new Compact 100 foglamp was named after its size: just 100 mm (about 4 1/4") in diameter by 65 mm (2 1/2") deep. With these dimensions the auxiliary lamp is suitable for installation on almost
all passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. |
